It is common for certain types of cases to need the same set of forms. Clio Draft makes it easy to save a set of document that are often used together, thereby saving you time from regularly having to individually search for and select the same forms to add to a project.
Create a reusable document set (project)
To create a document set, first create a pseudo client. Then you can create a project for this client within which you can create a document set to later use for other clients who need the same set of documents.
-
Create a pseudo client (i.e., a placeholder client).
Tip: You can use "Document Sets" as their first and last name, or another suitable option to clearly distinguish them as your pseudo client for the purposes of creating regularly used document sets. - Create project(s) for this client, and use a project name that clearly indicates what the document set is for (e.g., "California Divorce Document Set").
- Add the relevant forms for document set.
- Optional: Click Go to populate. Add any fields that will be the same across clients and matters, but leave any client- and matter-specific details unfilled so that you can easily reuse the document set.
- Optional: Click Go to drafting. Manually edit any fields on each of the document that will be the same across clients and matters, but leave any client- and matter-specific details unfilled so that you can easily reuse the document set.
Your project will autosave at each step, ensuring it is ready for use for future clients.
Duplicate a document set (project)
To use an existing document set (project) for a new client:
- Go to your the client with the existing document set, then click on the document set (project).

- Provide a name for this duplicated project and choose the new client.
- If you want to create a duplicate of a project for the same client, simply leave the client name as is.
- Click Duplicate.
The project will be added to your selected client along with all the project edits already made for the original document set.
